Isaacs and Branagh receive BAFTA nominations

The 2009 BAFTA (British Academy of Film and Television Arts) television nominations were announced this morning, and some of our favorites have received nominations.

Jason Isaacs has been nominated for Best Actor for The Curse of Steptoe. Wallander has received the Best Drama Series nomination which is produced by and stars Kenneth Branagh.

Other shows have received nominations that feature or have featured some of our favorite actors. Doctor Who has received the Best Drama Series nomination which has David Tennant finishing up his tenure as the Doctor. Another series receiving the nomination is Spooks (also known as MI-5) which has featured a couple of our favorite actors over the years: Gemma Jones and Jeff Rawle. A nomination for Best Continuing Drama was given to EastEnders which features Tiana Benjamin. The Bill has also received a nomination for Best Continuing Drama and in past years has featured Roger Lloyd-Pack, Ralph Ineson, Heather Bleasdale, Jim McManus, Amelda Brown, Timothy Bateson, Tom Knight, Bronson Webb, Richard Leaf, and Margery Mason. The comedy show Harry and Paul, which includes Paul Whitehouse, has received the Best Comedy Programme nomination.

The awards will be held April 26, 2009, at the Royal Festive Hall on London's South Bank.
